Description
The main entry into the home is the
parlor level with a marble foyer to greet guests. This entire
floor is dedicated to formal entertaining. The double parlor
has eleven foot ceilings, inlaid wood floors, two fireplaces,
and two double French doors which lead onto Juliet terraces
overlooking Beacon Street. This elegant parlor is palatial
in size.
Curved double pocket doors lead through a china display
area into the formal dining room. The dining room contains
original wood paneling, an oversized stone fireplace, Fleur
de lis lead glass windows, and the original light sconces.
Tucked behind a hidden panel is an antique silver safe restored
to working condition.
Behind a second hidden panel is a replicated butler’s
pantry with leaded glass cabinet doors, glass shelving and
antiqued hardware. The pantry unobtrusively contains such
modern conveniences as two warming drawers, a sink with garbage
disposal, dishwasher, refrigerator drawers and an icemaker...
the perfect staging area for any spectacular catered evening.
In addition, at the back of the butler’s pantry is
a servants staircase leading down to the main kitchen.
Also along the main hall of the parlor level is a uniquely
carved out statue display niche and a formal cloak room complete
with a coat room and powder room. The powder room is a jewel
box, mirrored from top to bottom.
